View Full Version : The reason why I am slowly pulling away from being a cnc fan.

I've bought them all, CNC, RA, CounterStrike, Aftermath, TS, FS, Ren, Gen, RA2, YR...
the manuals, the hint guides, etc, etc...
And every time it's been great, the series has been good, and the fun is still there...
but I am always having to upgrade my pc to play it, and this time, I'm not prepared to
do it.
Online play is virtually non-existant, half the graphics cards aren't able to play with
it, and I have to upgrade my pc again... TO PLAY A GAME !.

And in all honesty... I prefer to go back, and play Command and Conquer, the graphics
are classic, the missions are great, the fun is still there.
The fans are killing it... and they have been for years.
Sure there are the diehards, like myself, play the game, build a community, and the
modders, who pull the game to pieces, see how well it works, and change it, to enhance
it the way they want to...
Then there are those idiots who come onto boards, spam like crazy, kill the environment
you try and create, and get away with it, and those idiots who find it funny to make
botnetworks, and just hate others cos they're having fun, so find their own fun by
flooding them with crap packets to make them leave the lobbies.

I've had enough... I'm debating whether this is just a duff phase I am going through,
because everyone else is raving how good TW is, and I am stuck here not playing it...
but also glad I havent shelled at £35 for a game that wont run on my pc, and doesn't
work on the net properly.
And wtf at having all your ports open to play it ? Might as well just install a trojan
and advertisie your ip on TW to come and join in on the file stealing fun.
Honestly... I aint impressed.
Am I growing up, have my eyes just been opened, or am I just letting all these negative
comments about TW get to me ?

I don't know, the few sites you are particularly involved with seem to be nothing but internal politics and conflict, and seem to attract the worst sort of people; that's why I stopped using ChampSite (I think that's what it was called) as the CnCWorld forums. I now like the people and the atmosphere in the bit of the community I hang around in :)

As for upgrading your computer, you can't expect successive games to run on the same specifications otherwise everyone would berate EA because the graphics look the same as the previous game! It's always been that way; if your computer could play Red Alert 1 you'd need to upgrade it to play Tiberian Sun, and you'd need to upgrade it again to play Renegade. It's not just C&C, this applies for every game; Tomb Raider, Need For Speed etc etc.

P.S. Don't moan about paying for a game that you knew wouldn't run on your computer ;)

You're right.

and hey, not moaning about paying for it, as I dont own it yet.
Thanks for the reply... maybe, just maybe, I am missing it.

While I wait to get it, I am doing a little catchup on CounterStrike Source to fill in the gaps.

C&C3 isn't that graphically demanding not really. Just don't expect something 2 years old to run it very well thats all.

And online play for me works fine the VAST MAJORITY of the time... Also with online play, I've never seen so much German in my entire life... Its funny, cause I just know they're swearing at me but I can't understand them... hahaha.. :p

I agree, being European is annoying 'cos it's just packed full of Germans....we can laugh at them knowing they've got a censored version though.

ROFL... I heard about that.. EA had to change the graphic for the suicide bomber.

the demo JUST about works on it... all I need to know is... will the real game work on it ?

(1.7ghz, 256 mb gfx card, 1 gb ram, 250gb drive)

The demo works the same as the full game. Your processor is just a little under the minimum spec but hopefully your video card should make up for it. I have a 2500+ processor, Geforce 4 (128MB) gfx card, 512MB RAM and it runs well on the medium setting.

The game looks pretty decent at medium, but anything below that and it starts to look really bad... ;)

Agreed. I'm glad a new computer is on its way :)

oh...

Thanks John, didn't realise the game was same spec... when I played the demo it was all on low settings, and the nuke was impossible to watch, it just totally lagged out.

The Nuke lags on mine, I just don't look at it. The game really isn't worth playing if you have to have it on anything beneath Medium.
