Ahhh, Tiberium... Those alien, crystal-like plants that changed our (parallel) world...

It has to be the neon green flavour. Original and best.

I like them equally. Don't forget the weeds that could be harvested to charge up the chemical missile.

There are 4 kinds of Tiberium.
1=Riparius
2=Cruentus
3=Vinifera
4=Aboreus

:p

These are the real varieties of Tiberium. So, I guess this vote for "other" will work for any of the other 9 varieties of Tiberium you didn't mention? :p

* Tiberium Riparius - Color: Green. Considered 'immature' Tiberium, this variant of Tiberium has a lower level of leeched minerals.

* Tiberium Vinifera - Color: Blue. This is the more potent and highly explosive variant of Tiberium. "Blue Tiberium" leeches minerals from the soil in greater concentrations, making it far more potent—and therefore valuable. Vinifera crystals are much more dangerous than Riparius, and large beds of Vinifera are known to explode if struck by lightning or by explosive ordinance. This type of tiberium grows slower than Riparius.

* Tiberium Spore (also known as Blossom) Tree - A mutated tree that puffs out spores that make new green or blue Tiberium. There are two varieties that are named after the associated Tiberium color that they produce.

* Tiberium Cruentus - A massive blue crystal form of Tiberium that functions like a spore tree but rather than spreading Tiberium Riparius, it spreads Tiberium Vinifera. It spreads slower than a spore tree and is highly volatile.

* Unknown Strain - This new strain of Tiberium appears similar to Cruentus, but it has yet to spread any type of Tiberium. It is believed that this variation may spread a red form of Tiberium in the future.

* Tiberium Veins - A mouth in a hole marks the heart of this creature. It grows veins outward, which hold a solid form of Tiberium Gas. When attacked, the monster releases the gas, poisoning its assailants. The veins also attack anything larger than a human that treads upon them. Veins grow much faster than tiberium crystals. If left alone, Tiberium Veins can demolish buildings instantly. The brotherhood of NOD deploys specialized "Weedeaters" to harvest Tiberium Veins where they are deposited at a Tiberium Waste Facility to be processed into a toxic mulch for use as a Payload Component on their Chemical Missiles.

* Tiberium Algae - Tiberium colonies that extended from either Riparius or Vinfera on the seafloor to the surface by strands. The Tiberium poisons and clogs waterways. By the time of the second Tiberian War, most of the oceans have been covered by this unhelpful variant of Tiberium which makes sea travel by ship impossible. Unlike land-based types, this form of Tiberium does not leech any units.

* Tiberium Fauna - The function of this form of Tiberium is unknown, but they appear to be the Tiberium equivilant of terran trees. The Fauna is known to release toxic Tiberium fumes into the atmosphere.

* Tiberium Flora - Like the Tiberium Fauna, the function of this form is unknown. It also releases toxic fumes into the atmosphere.

* Tiberium "Creep" - A sludge/moss form of Tiberium in blue and green variations which slow down travel. Tiberium Fauna always grow on the green variation and Tiberium Flora has been seen growing on the blue variation and terran soil.

* Tiberium Gas - This is a dangerous form of Tiberium which forms toxic clouds. Often observed being emitted by 'Veinhole Monsters' and Tiberium Floaters. Extremely poisonous and can damage vehicles and structures after prolonged exposure. Kills infantry, mutants and most cyborgs almost instantly.

why does everything but humans get bigger when they mutate arrg..

ChopBam

Bigger but less stable. Have you studied genetics? Mutations mean your genes lose information. It could be a physical deformation or severe mental instability.

Clazzy

You need more makeup if you make humans radically different. It's far easier to just shove some crystals on their face instead :P.

suppose

i wonder what would happen if you exposed like formented fruit to tiberium

You get moonshine that can really power a spaceship (how you think the Scrin crashed? they were pissed on the Exhaust fumes :D )

I mentioned only the important ones.
Other types are much less familiar.
My original idea included ONLY blue and green. I added the "Other" option for those who prefer something else.

no it means the changing of dna.

So if someone had an arm on their face or had 4 arms i would say he was a mutant if he had became this way after exposior to a substance would you not?

ChopBam

Mutations may, on the very rare occasion, be beneficial, but never do they actually gain information. If a creature gains 2 extra arms, it weakens in another ability.
Dog breeders keep this in mind when they breed dogs to get an enhanced ability. They are always weakened somewhere else.

I find a beautiful irony in the colors of Tiberium.

We usually think of the Green color as of a color of life, the color of plants, a "living" color.
But in the Tiberium Saga it is a color that kills life. It has some characteristics of plants, but it is different. And on the cotrary with the usual green that we enjoy to watch, the glowing hypnotizing green of those alien crystals could be a sad view...

I think that "Dusk Hour" is just about that.

And the irony continues with the Blue Tiberium, which turns out to be even more dangerous. The color of seas and sky, which we associate with our planet, turns out to be an explosive mixture of extremely poisonous minerals/alien plants.

green because it adds to the atmosphere of the game on the brighter missions, blue for the darker missions
