my disc is in, so I have no idea wtf is going on...

abit more info:

I used "Red Alert Setup Manager v0.98" tool.
my operating system is Windows Vista

Did you enable the NoCD option when installing with the RA setup manager? If you did, that kinda screws up the game's ability to read the CD. You shouldn't use it unless you copy the correct files from the RA CDs to your RA game folder.
