Here's the results for the "Red Alert 2 / Yuri's Revenge" part of the Open Map Competition 3...
http://www.ppmsite.com/omc3.jpg
Dear Command & Conquer fans,
We'd like to apologise the absurd delay of the RA2 results. It happened due to lots of results such as slow judges, several judge replacements, judges with trouble when using Terrain Expansion, end of year real life rush and even windows problems on certain machines.
We'll be disclosing daily the results of the RA2/YR part of the competition, showing daily a map which scored over 60% till the finals. There were 16 submissions and 7 maps scored above 60%. From these 7 maps, 6 were considered spotlighted, by scoring above 75%. The judges were: Lion, Braddoc, Flak, Clazzy and JohnWe. Clazzy was originally meant only to judge TS maps, but he replaced wthigon, while JohnWe replaced Hexetic who was going to replace Ruben.
Before announcing the contestants, we have a word about the prizes.
Unfortunatelly, due to lack of efficient comunication or attitude between one or both sides, we are still waiting EA's words and actions on sponsorship. The prize pack they were suposed to send to sponsor the competition was not sent yet and there is a high possibility that it will never be sent. We apologise for this inconvenience, although we still confirm other prizes such as cash for the top 3, softwares and webspace provided by some of the sites who sponsored the event. The top 3 mappers from each game will be contacted later, once we solve the deal with EA.
Anyway, we'd like to thank all those who submitted their RA2 or YR maps to Open Map Competition 3:
AhsanKhalid111 (CNCNZ.com)
Amak (???)
ArissDJ (RADEN-DGN)
Aurora196 (PPM and TiberiumSun.com)
Bob Markey (RADEN-DGN)
BrutalAl (forums.ubi.com?)
FlyingZ (RADEN-DGN/YR Argentina)
Hades/Slavik (Savage War/TiberiumSun.com)
HK_31 (RADEN-DGN)
Mayhew1 (???)
Nucl34r14 (C&C Nuked)
Oredragon (RADEN-DGN)
Piscinex (DGN/Strike Team)
Raptor (CnC Reactor)
the50 (Revora)
WRC2 (???)
A big thanks for Aurora196 and HK_31 for submitting maps for TS and RA2. Another big thanks for Piscinex for submitting maps for both RA2 and Generals.
Also, two maps were disqualified.
FlyingZ: He submitted a kick ass campaign map. But campaign maps are clearly not valid submissions on OMC.
Hades: He publicly released his map before all judges review all maps.
This news will be updated later with everyone's community and a minimap screenshot of both disqualified maps. And again, I deeply apologise for all inconveniences with the delay of the RA2 results and prizes. I'd like to ask a lot of patience for the winners, because the prizes will delay. More info on Webbies (http://webbies.cnccommunity.net/) (restricted to C&C webmasters, site staff and mod leaders).
Update 1: I've added the communities that the submitters participate from. Some did not stated their community, however, we request that next time all submitters state the community they participate, so it's easier for everyone to recognize them and also to find out active communities. RADEN is the most active RA2/YR mapping community at the moment, as we could see.

I've updated the first post, because there Banshee had to address a minor thing.
Also, he posted this yesterday...
http://www.ppmsite.com/omc3.jpg
Hello again,
I'd like to apologise the lack of results so far. I wasn't able to play the RA2/YR maps because my sound card is having directx problems. Since I don't like posting blind comments about maps I never played and it wouldn't be fair from my side, I'm focusing all my efforts to sort my pc problems, before doing any other activity with the pc.
In other news, EA APOC has contacted me and hopefully, the prizes will be sorted. However, winners won't get anything before february, unless FedEx does a very fast job.
Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
And, does anyone knows Bob Markey? He's a visitor of RADEN and the 7th place with 69.3%. I'll post more details as soon as I fix my problems here.

W00t. 7th place for OMC3 - RA2/YR is in...
http://www.ppmsite.com/omc3.jpg
Hello again,
After a long time without a working computer, I've finally managed to get rid of my problems and I'm now able to post the RA2 results. I'd like to apologise once again for the delay. Blame my motherboard.
Today we are finally revealing the score of those who got less than 60% points and also the 7th place. One of the things I could notice is that the RA2 judges were less strict than the TS ones. Also, the ammount of symetric maps for non TS games is higher. One of the Open Map Competition 3 inovations was the "Original Concept" rating. It's suposed to rate how original is the design of the map. Authors who design maps in 'cliche' way (such as placing players in the sides and ore or gems in the center) or similar design to most common Westwood (tournament) maps. Another thing that costs some points is the fact of the map being symetric, because the mapper only designs half or a quarter of the map, which shows lack of creativity. Symetrical maps might look more ballanced, however, they are very predictable, which makes it boring.
Anyway, the 7th place is Bob Markey. He is still starting to create maps for the game. He submitted few maps and constantly visits RADEN (http://www.cncgames.com/). Although his maps might never received any thumbs up over there, they do not lack quality either. At least, it's what he shows with his submission Spider Town.
Spider Town is a symetric, however, a fun map. The maps boasts of several strategical points and a nice team play (2 vs 2) design. Each base has 2 land entrances and one naval entrance. The buildings makes harder the use of most of naval units to attack the enemy base, which gives an advantages for the allied robot tanks. There are 4 cities around the map close to ore areas and you can garrison them to prevent land rushes and capture oil derricks. There are 2 airports in the center. He could have improved the map by detailing the base building area, which is a bit plain. But for one of his first maps, it's a nice job and a great position for a first try. It's hard to see newbies scoring 69,33% in their first map competition. Congratulations, Bob Markey! Here's the details:

In other news, we haven't received a confirmation from Aaron Kaufman regarding the prizes EA was suposed to have sent a while ago to sponsor this competition. I'd like to ask everyone for more patience, but I'm almost sure he will send the goodies. If he sends it, we'll probably have collectors edition versions of C&C games for the top 2, sound tracks, mousepads and few other goodies for the top 3. Let's pray for the EA Gods! Once we have a confirmation from them and revealed the winners, we'll contact all top 3 for the prizes.

Sixth Place:
http://www.ppmsite.com/omc3.jpg
Six maps were scored above 75% in our RA2 section, which is clearly a record. I'm sure some RA2 judges were not very strict when they reviewed the maps. The example is this map that scored 94% with one of the judges. Such score should have been given for a map that is really a classic. Maybe this map isn't a classic, but certainly deserve our spotlight. If all top 5 maps really beat this one, I'll have a lot of fun in the next days.
Now you are curious to find out who is the 6th place, right? The answer is Nucl34ar14. He's been mapping on RADEN and CnC Depot for a while and he established his own home at C&C Nuked (http://nuked.gamingsource.net). He is working on a mod with the same name.
His map is Hot Battlezone. It's a 4 players symetric map. Each base has only one, however, big entrance and 2 oil derricks close to it. And there is also a secret lab in the center. The map is very detailed with several civilian buildings between the bases where players can garrison troops. Players have a lot of ore and gems close to their start point and with 8 oil derricks in the map, it's hard to run out of cash. I only think it's a pitty that he only planned a quarter of the map, but it's a pretty good map. Very good for a 6th place! Here's the details:

Here's 5th...
http://www.ppmsite.com/omc3.jpg
Today I'm glad to announce that EA is trully sponsoring this competition. The proof has just arrived at my home today. I swear I'll show some pictures later, but now the battery of my camera is recharging due to this event. A big heavy box with several RA2 collectors edition games, TS Platinum Edition boxes, soundtrack from Emperor and Renegade, Official Red Strike Strategy Guides, and 30 Renegade mousepads!!! Yea, 30 mousepads! I'm using one. The other 29 will be distributed. What about distributing mousepads for the top 9 of each game? :p
Also, I'd like to apologise for uploading a map yesterday with the wrong read me file. I have too many read me files for each map, because I have the original one in a zip, the original one extracted, the competition one in another directory... so I missed the file. Fortunatelly, this issue has been fixed few hours ago. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
After some bla bla bla above, it's time to reveal the 5th place who is getting a Renegade mousepad! The lucky creature is known as ArissDJ! He is a veteran, a professional mapper that has submitted some thumbs up YR maps for RADEN (http://www.cncgames.com/). But he has estabilished his own mapping home at YUCNC (http://www.yucnc.tk/). His site all the thumbs up RA2 and Zero Hour maps he submitted to DGN sites and some interesting modding tools.
His map is Ascension, the first non symetric map from the RA2 maps I've played so far. It's a big desert four players map. Each base has several entrances, some oil derricks close. The center is full of tech buildings and it also includes one spy satelite with several power plants, hospitals, secret labs, airport, among other oil derricks in the center. Watch out for some dogs protecting some of them. There are few resources close to each start area and you'll need to expand with derricks or rely on miners gathering ore on dangerous areas. There is a city in the center where some of the tech buildings are located. I love the details and the atmosphere of the map. It deserves its spotlight. Here's the details:

and straight from the CNC community site, the 4th place
If you've wondered why today's results delayed a bit, I had a hell of a sleep time to compensate the last 7 days.
The 4th place is BrutalAl. A fanatic RA2 gamer who has also proven to be a great RA2 mapper. However, he seems to be an observer of this community, since he hasn't registered on any community at all.
His map is Vicious Standings, another non-symetric 4 players map. Resources are very limited and there is no tech buildings. When I played the map, I had the impression I was playing a random map. But it's very well designed. There are few civilian buildings, but they are almost useless in this map. Also, some players might have the advantage of defending their bases with naval units. Anyway, Vicious Standings is a very detailed map and very attractive. Here's the details:

the exitment is ricing; OMC3 is coming to his end. here's the thirth place
tommorow, we know the winner. the winner will be obeyed eveywhere, will be ruler of the mapmaking community. the looser will be yelled at, will be beated up. start the bets already, dudes.
I've been receiving many complaints about judges. Because one judge wrote that a certain (YR) map has too much tiberium, other two missed the triggers in two different maps and another several ammount of random spam or stupidities written in these reviews, or they were harsh or too light when reviewing the maps. Honestly, I cannot mind control these people to judge everything correctly. We gave them freedom to rate the maps according to the rules (http://www.cnccommunity.net/index.php?page=omcrules) we provided here. They are humans, therefore the are entitled to commit mistakes. Of course, these mistakes can change the results in a critical way. However, we respect the results of the judges and publish in the way they were provided to us. The job of questioning certain ratings comes from the RA2 organizer (ArgCmdr), which he really did, since one judge originally forgot to rate the triggers. Once published, we will not change the results, unless the score wasn't counted correctly.
Considering all this information, let's get into the 3rd place. The lucky creature who will get a soundtrack of Renegade or Emperor, a Renegade mousepad, Red Strike strategy guide, money, among other cool goodies is known as Aurora196! He's a very well known TS mapper, he has participated from several mods which were scrapped, unfortunatelly. He's the only creature who submitted maps to all editions of the Open Map Competition. In this edition, he also submitted a TS map, scoring 68%, getting a 6th place. He also got the 3rd place in the first Open Map Competition.
His map is Icy Encounter, which is non-symetric large 4 players snow map. Resources are very limited and your miners will move to the center to look for ore in the beggining of the game. There are 2 oil derricks in the center and one airfield. There are few garrisonable buildings close to the center and 3 strategic bridges. The large size of the map makes early game rushes harder. When I played against the brutal AI, their miners stopped to gather cash because the closest ore was too far. However, this map is very well made and very well textured. Here's the details:

Hello again, sorry for the suspense. I was going to post it yesterday, however, I had some new power supply problems. I was lucky to be able to fix it today without spending a single cent.
A funny thing I've seen in the first Open Map Competition that supports Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge is that the top 4 maps were made for Red Alert 2! People could have used Yuri's Revenge's resources, even the terrain expansion, but clearly, the best maps were the RA2 ones. The best YR map was 5th place. It's a really weird coincidence, isn't it?
So, we can finally reveal the winner! Oredragon has won with a new record in OMC's history, 87.33%. Both OreDragon and Piscinex are frequent visitors of DEN sites. Oredragon has some thumbs up maps, while Piscinex has more modding experience and also participates a lot of the Strike Team forums.
Anyway, the winning map is called Sillyanas Deep. It's a big and extremely detailed 6 player map infested of triggers. You'll always find a city between every two players and this city has a tech building in the center (oir derrick or airfield). The center is where the events happen, include an summon of... no, I won't tell what kind of creatures you'll see there. But expect a lot of fun. I was able to kill only one of these creatures, after a massive air strike, since they wipe everything else with easy, including all my airplanes. The best unit to deal with them might be a mastermind, if you play it in Yuri's Revenge by renaming the map. Send them in a group and if they are lucky to survive, of course. The map demands a faster computer than the pentium 266 recommended for the game, otherwise you'll notice some lag. I've played in an AMD Athlon 850Mhz and it lagged considerably. Here's the details of the winning map:

But, we have not forgotten Piscinex's map called Yin Yang. It's a 4 players fast paced team map. The map boasts of several ore and gems well distributed through the map, one tech building at two borders of the map. Very well done details and cliffs and a top notch gameplay. Piscinex was lucky to get the second place, although one of the judges didn't notice his sound triggers, but even if he noticed, it wouldn't change the score of the map. Here's the details:

I tested the winner map in AI. one word: it was awesome !! surtenly one of the best maps I ever played (if not THE best). those creatures are damn very strong; not only enormous armour, but also powzerfull firepower (one of those creatures has the weapon of the elite aegis cruiser
, while another one has the weapon of a president IFV). I was able to kill one of them by droning it, but it the drone needed atleast 7 min. at highest game speed to kill it.
I will post screenies later. I recommend to all of you: download that map!

There isn't going to be another competition unless you care to donate $300 to ship the prizes; Banshee aint paying that again.
