c&c red alert

i just downloaded c&c redalert allied and when i try to run it i get the following error.
Error-Unable to allocate primary video buffer - aborting

can anybody help me with this please

i can play if i run in DOS mode but have no sound

it says it cant load setup.mix file

Start RASETUP.EXE, set the resolution to 640x480. Ty ra95.exe again. If it doesn't work, you should update your DirectX drivers.

btw, to fully patch your game, download & install this patch (http://www.cnc-comm.com/community/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=45).

i have installed the update you suggested and have also made the changes but im still getting the same error.
