The First Decade Boxart

If you haven't seen the First Decade boxart yet, head over to CnCWorld (http://www.cncworld.org)for a gander.

What do you think of it? I like the return to the propper Command & Conquer logo, but it doesn't really look C&Cey; there's no bloke on the cover with goggles on it could be the box for anything really.
Although I'm not denying that the "X" doesn't look cool what's it about?

i would guess:

1 case for cnc + whatever its expansion was called
1 case for tib sun + firestorm
1 case for RA1 + counterstrike + firestorm
1 case for RA2 + YR
1 case for Renegade
1 case for Generals + ZH

so 2 piles of 3 cases each, that would prolly fit snugly in a box that size
or maybe, judging from the pic, just one box the size of a DVD box but deep enough for 6 cases

All 12 C&C games will come on one DVD and all the bonus material will come on another DVD.

It'll be on a couple of DVDs - if they produced 17 CDs there's noway they'd be selling it for $39 or £18 on Amazon.

CD1: Command & Conquer + Covert Ops
CD2: Red Alert Allies + Soviets
CD3: Counterstrike + Aftermath
CD4: TS GDI + Nod
CD5: Firestorm
CD6: Renegade
CD7: Red Alert 2 Allies + Soviets
CD8: Yuri's Revenge
CD9: Generals CD1
CD10: Generals CD2
CD11: Zero Hour CD1
CD12: Zero Hour CD2

That way they could put CD1 - CD6 in one CD case and CD7 to CD12 in another one. :) At least that would let you throw out the crap. :p

There are loads of WW2 games out there, many rather mediocre indeed. People still buy them, though, and don't buy the truly innovative and good games like Darwinia (http://www.darwinia.co.uk).

I think Quake 4 is good; about time we had a good shoot-em-up.

Well the vehicles were poorly implemented, skyboxes are pretty crap (fact made even worse when a soldier comments 'Look at that view!'), the ending wasn't very well-written, and it was far too repetitive. Most of the time was spent fighting the same five enemies, and they made no attempt to have variety. Half Life 2 had less enemies, but they were neatly broken up instead of bearing down at you from all sides every room you entered. Oh, and the BFG (Dark Matter gun?!) was no fun at all, although to be fair, it went downhill from Q3 with the enhanced plasma gun idea.

I think the bonus DVD footage looks very interesting now...although I'm kinda concerned by the things people have done :p

Theve re-mastered all the FMVs so they look sweet all the Tib/RA ones are updated. Apoc smashing thru the Texas sign never looked so good. And all acompaned to Hell march :D hense the reson its on loop i the background now :D

Yea, I did take those pics. All credit to the EA art department, they've done a great job, it's just a shame that the programmers (apparantly) weren't so good.

Though its kidna gay they removed the seperate loading screens for the games. Like TS and FS had cool loading screens, so did RA2 and others... Meh, stupid EA... :(

I can't believe this hasn't been addressed.

Stan Lee orininally wanted the comics to be named "The Mutants." However, publishers thought comic readers were stupid, and wouldn't know what mutants were. So they forced him name them something else that was made up, like "X-Men." Stan Lee responded by saying "What difference does it make if the reader doesn't know what a mutant is if NOBODY knows what an X-Man is?" Regardless, the title stuck.

I love the first decade box. Yeah, like everyone else I think the actual DVD could have done with a LOT more work, but I'd still buy it knowing what was on there.
