Default you are running 6.0, this is a windows 95 only product

i have the original disc for red alert, and followed the installation guide, but my computer won't let me install the game. A message pops up with no options that just says I am running 6.0 and im trying to install a windows 95 only product. I also tried to just download the free copy but I couldn't get that to work. Any ideas? Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit.

download this http://ra57.cnc-comm.com/download.php?view.38 its red alert manager 0.98. This will install Red Alert on WinXp its a simple tool to use to go from version 1.08 to 3.03 or 3.03 to 1.08 it has a NOCD crack and PatchFix with this tool *Note this will only work with an original CD1 or CD2 and the Free version from Red Alert 3 Website . i havent tested this on vista but you can try it it might work.

It sounds like you haven't set the game into Windows 95 compatibility mode.

sorry, the resolution on the attachment didn't come out so well. It says:

General File Transfer Error. Please Check Your Target Location and Try Again

    Error Number: -1

    Related File : C/Westwood/RedAlert/RedAlert.mix

Weird, I haven't come across that error message before; what's does this happen using both the CD version and the download?

It only happens on the cd version. I tried doing the download version, but then I encountered another error, so I just went and found the actual disc.
